Bunni Pounds Launches New Ministry to Confront Biblical Illiteracy
DALLAS, Oct. 6, 2026 /Christian Newswire/ — Bunni Pounds, visionary behind America Reads the Bible 2026 and founder of Christians Engaged, has launched Bunni Pounds Ministries – a new biblical discipleship ministry dedicated to building on the momentum of this year’s historic national Bible-reading event and confronting the growing problem of biblical illiteracy in America.
The ministry was officially launched Oct. 6 during a live broadcast on The Steve Deace Show.
America Reads the Bible took place April 18–25, 2026 in Washington, D.C., bringing together nearly 500 national leaders for seven consecutive days of public Bible reading from Genesis to Revelation. More than 3 million people watched the event live at the Museum of the Bible through Great American Pure Flix.
Inspired by the Old Testament account of Ezra, whose public proclamation of Scripture helped spark spiritual renewal, Pounds said the new ministry is designed to build on the momentum of America Reads the Bible 2026 and make Bible engagement an ongoing movement.
“We are fanning the flames of the momentum from America Reads the Bible 2026 to fuel a Bible revival through our new brand – The Whole Bible Live,” Pounds said.
“Biblical illiteracy is the root of America’s problem. We don’t have grounded leaders for our nation because we don’t know who we are, because we don’t read our Bibles,” Pounds said.
“I am determined to dedicate my future years in ministry to addressing the most important issue of our times—people knowing and being transformed by God’s infallible Word,” she said.
According to recent Barna Group studies, only about one-third of American adults read the Bible once a week or more, and only 19 percent of people who identify as “born-again Christians” hold a basic biblical worldview.

The Whole Bible Live — National and regional events that combine public reading of Scripture with practical expressions of Christian service in communities across the country. Christian Leadership School and Conference — An intensive nine-month online school designed to develop leaders with a biblical worldview who are equipped to lead in all realms of culture. This powerful course emphasizes civics, cultural issues, and evangelism, and will culminate annually with a national leadership conference.
NextGen Mentorship — A mentorship initiative that includes trips, retreats, and discipleship opportunities to raise up the next generation of biblical leaders.
A Biblical Media Resource Library — An expanding collection of podcasts, Bible study curricula, blogs, articles, interview programs and social media content designed to encourage Bible reading and highlight the Bible’s enduring significance in American life and history.
Before founding Christians Engaged, which mobilized more than a million Christians to pray, vote and engage in U.S. elections, Pounds spent 16 years as a political consultant and campaign manager working with Members of Congress. In 2018, she also ran a nearly $1 million campaign for Congress.
