He Loves Us Enough to Wake Us Up: A Word After the Election

Dear Friends,

Election night, November 3, was a heavy night for many of us who long to see our government stand on biblical principles and protect children and families.

I want to acknowledge the pain so many of us are feeling and processing. I spent seven years mobilizing Christians to pray, vote, and engage, and I hope these words minister to your heart.

On Saturday, October 31, I delivered a message at the Nehemiah Alliance gathering on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The event was 15 hours of prayer, fasting, and repentance leading up to the election, and the Lord gave me a word from Revelation 3:14–20 about the lukewarm church and what it means for America today.

I encourage you to watch this timely 10-minute message.

Watch: Bunni Pounds at the Nehemiah Alliance, National Mall (10 min)

In my preparation and message, I focused on how we in the American church don’t see our own blindness and nakedness.

We must come to the end of ourselves and turn to God. We won’t make it through the days ahead on our own gifts and talents. We won’t make it without going to God every day, in need of Him and His Word.

One verse jumped off the page to me that morning:

“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” (Revelation 3:19)

I can feel the love of God for us even now, the morning after an election. He loves us deeply. He loves us enough to wake us up. He loves us enough to rebuke and chasten us.

God has shifted my life and our team dramatically since June of this year, and on election night I understood why even more.

If people don’t know God, nothing else matters.

If people don’t have a biblical worldview, they can’t discern truth and hate evil.

If we don’t have leaders with moral courage, we won’t make it in the years to come.

That’s why God has called our team to The Whole Bible Live. We are raising up a new generation who will cling to Him and His Word daily, who will “study to show themselves approved” (2 Timothy 2:15) and understand the issues of our day from a biblical perspective. We are raising up an army of bold disciples, grounded in the truth and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

We do not grieve like those who have no hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13). We run to God and ask Him to transform us into His likeness so we can impact the world.

We have hope. We have the Word of God. We have Jesus.

We are ready to go and impact lives with the Bible.

Let’s stick together and impact the nation for Jesus. He is worthy of our love and affection.

We love you,
